KWARA – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has rescued a 19-year-old student from Abubakar Audu University, Ayangba, Kogi State, who was found wandering naked in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State.
The 400-level English Education undergraduate, Fauziyah Muhammed, was reportedly kidnapped in Ayangba on Sunday morning. According to NSCDC officials, she was hypnotized by her captors before being abandoned in Ilorin.
Residents of the Ajegunle-Isale neighbourhood on Egbejila Road discovered her disoriented and unclothed on Monday morning. They provided her with clothing and informed the NSCDC, who swiftly intervened.
Dr. Umar Muhammed, the state commander of the NSCDC, described the student as incoherent, possibly due to the trauma she endured during her ordeal. He stated, “Fauziyah was wandering around the community when some Good Samaritans clothed her and alerted our officers. She has been given support and comfort by the command.”
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has pledged assistance, including fuel support, to facilitate her return to Kogi State. Fauziyah is set to be handed over to a family representative, Mallam Salihu Aliu, who has been authorised to take custody of her.
In a brief interview, Fauziyah recounted her last memory before the abduction. “One of the books I was carrying dropped, and as I bent to pick it up, I lost consciousness,” she said. She remains unable to recall details of how she ended up in Kwara State.
In an unrelated incident, the NSCDC paraded a suspect, Abu Usman Soja, believed to be an informant for a kidnapping syndicate. The group is accused of abducting a woman and her two children in Ajase-Ipo, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State. The captors initially demanded ₦50 million in ransom but reduced it to ₦15 million. While the mother has been released, the children remain in captivity as investigations continue.
The swift actions of the Ajegunle-Isale community highlight the importance of vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement in combating crime. The NSCDC has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring justice for victims and apprehending those responsible for such heinous acts.
Rocketparrots News will continue monitoring these cases, providing updates as investigations unfold.
