The movie "A Tribe Called Judah" by Funke Akindele has grossed over half a billion in two weeks.
According to a post made by Nigerian filmmaker Funke Akindele on Instagram, the film has grossed a total of 613 million in Nigeria. She praised her followers in the post, a wide swath of Nigerian film buffs who have remained faithful, splurging on her projects since she rose to popularity as the lead of the movie franchise Jenifa.
Since its nationwide theatrical premiere on December 15, 2023, A Tribe Called Judah hasn't stopped shattering records. It had the greatest opening weekend gross in Nollywood history, garnering 113 million dollars, and is now the highest-grossing film for the year 2023.
Ada Omo Daddy by Nigerian actress Mercy Aigbe, which was released on December 15, 2023, and now has a gross of 104 million, is another current box office champion.
Aigbe also rushed to Instagram to thank her supporters and the entire nation.
Omowunmi Dada leads the cast as she becomes engaged to her sweetheart, Tayo Faniran. However, cross-cultural love encounters various roadblocks from different ends of the family. The dramatic film is still playing in theaters across the country.
Malaika by Toyin Abraham is another record-breaking title, with a gross of 104.3 million in eight days since its December 22, 2023 premiere.
