ANAMBRA, Nigeria - The Anambra Police Command has arrested 33-year-old Obinna Anene, the main suspect in the horrific murder of 74-year-old Alice Anene.
Alice, an elderly woman who was wheelchair-bound, was found burnt to death in her residence located in Amene Village, Abagana.
According to police reports, not only was Alice killed, but her body was also intentionally set ablaze.
A wheelchair and a casket were discovered at the crime scene, indicating a possible effort to hide the crime or further disrespect the victim's memory.
The announcement of the arrest was made by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer for Anambra State.
He disclosed, “The suspect, Obinna Anene, a 33-year-old male from Amene Village, Abagana, has been taken into custody in connection with the murder and burning of 74-year-old Alice Anene on January 27, 2025.”
Currently, the suspect is being moved to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for additional questioning.
