Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, the governor of Kano State, has fired the 44 center officials who were in charge of organizing the 2023 Hajj pilgrimage in their respective local governments.
This was stated in a statement that was authored by Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, his press secretary.
According to the announcement, the governor appointed interim officers in their stead to oversee the continuing Hajj operations in the state.
However, he gave the newly appointed officers orders to start working on their duties and go to the State Pilgrims Welfare Board's headquarters to see the new Director-General for additional guidance.
Amb. Mohammad Danbatta was fired by the governor, and Alhaji Laminu Rabiu was named as the new Director-General of the Board.
This happened a few hours before the state's intended pilgrims' airlift begins.
