No fewer than 1,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have defected to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State in a new political swing.
The defectors were welcomed by the state party chairman, Dr Hashimu Suleiman Dungurawa, in Tofa and Ghari local government areas of the state.
The defectors officially joined the NNPP during a ceremony held at both locations.
The event was marked by the flag-off of the NNPP’s chairmanship campaign ahead of the upcoming local government elections.
Among the notable attendees were the NNPP candidates for the elections, Yakubu Ibrahim Adis of Tofa and Hashimu Mai Sabulu of Ghari.
Following the influx of new members, both candidates expressed confidence in the NNPP’s strength in the region.
